Right, then. First impressions. The throat in the No.1 is not very long and max overall length with 400 gr Woodleigh soft points is 3.215". With this length the cannelure is about a cannelure's width below the case mouth. Effective case capacity is somewhat less that I had hoped, but still enough to get to buff power I suspect. FWIW, the factory 300 flat nose is loaded to an OAL of 3.10" and has 55.6 grs of what looks like Hodgdon Varget (AR2208) in it. This is not a load recommendation, yada yada...

The trigger on this one is much better than I had expected; having good wood and a good trigger, does that mean it will shoot well too, or do I only get two out of three? Stay tuned.
