It should do you well. A few years ago I converted on of the stainless/laminated 45/70 guns to a 45-2.6" barrel (Pac-Nor) that was set up for the right twist rate for a 500gr bullet at 2150fps. The conversion cost me less than $800, including the barrel. The rifle is a lot of fun, I kept the 22" light factory contour so it is a handful. The case size seems about right, I get a volume between the 458w and 458 Lott, the Starline brass is cheap in comparison to 450NE, so are the dies. Another benefit is no filler is needed. Since the 450NE has become more available since then I would probably have gone with that chambering.
