CptCurl I hear you. 9.3X57 Unfortunately I can't slug the bore at the moment as the rifle is with the importers. I will speak with my local gun shop and see if they can get the importers to slug the barrel and give me the land diameter. When I shoot the rifle with no forestock and just the action on the bag I thought the problen was due to the barrel to action contact. However on discussing this with several people most thought this would not account for the rifles performance. Some how though my mind keept comming back to the barrel to action fit/lock up. I am now thinking it could be a combination of things including the rifle just being one of those duds as mentioned by Curl. "You might be saddled with a "Within Specification" reply from Ruger and be stuck with handloading and bedding trickery to get that gun to behave." It may well come to this. I have had one other rifle in the past that would only shoot 1 particular handload well all other factory and handloads didn't perform. That rifle did not last long. I have been spoilt with rifles that will shoot a number of loads well and often to the same point at 100mts. Huvius. Was not game to try the open sights, with hind sight I should of. I did try 2 different and know scopes on the rifle. I did not check the rib screws but did try to get movement out of the scopes and mounts by applying sideways, vertical and twisting pressure to the scope. Could not detect any movement. Mounts were checked at the start and end of each session and all appeared OK. Will keep you posted. Cheers Greg |
