This rifle may look like your run of the mill Gibbs (if there ever was such a thing) but it is actually a smaller frame than my 461 but larger than the rook actions. The stock and length of pull is very near to identical to my 461 so I am thinking it was not made as a child's or ladies rifle. Almost every dimension of the action is roughly 10% smaller and the block is much shorter than most Gibbs Farqs. It is chambered in 303 British and weighs roughly 5.5lbs! Yes, I expect it will be quite a handful. The barrel is nitro proved, but the gun is from right around the time that the 303 went from black powder to nitro. I would say a probable rebarrel (no address) but there is record of another medium actioned rifle of similar weight in 303 too. A nice mild load would be a pleasure in this gun - any suggestions? For now, just a couple teaser shots - you all know how slow I am to post more pictures so this will have to do for the time being. Still working on bigger pictures too. |
