Re: Ruger No.1 weight

My No.1 H .450/400 - 3"NE weighs 9.17lbs. scoped with a 1 X 4 Leupold (unloaded). I have also replaced the factory recoil pad with a Limbsaver. I find the gun very shootable from field positions, off sticks, etc. but was glad to get my bench work load development done with 400 gr. loads. I find the gun points very naturally and the stock is conducive to easy recoil management. In addition, I do most of my practice/plinking with 210gr. Hornady .41 Mag. pistol bullets loaded over Trail Boss powder which makes this a most fun gun to shoot. In fact I'm finding myself shooting this gun even more than my .22/250 and 6.5 X 55!!!

I have 5 Ruger No.1's in various calibers and none come close to factory weight specifications (all are over). IMHO this is a great gun and caliber for someone wishing to get into a classic big bore caliber.
