Quote: How right you are Mr. Fewless. I was originally planning to go down the re-chamber a 458 path for my 450, until I removed the barrel and measured the chamber and slugged the bore. The factory chamber, namely the belt recess, was rather too “generous” to be cleaned up with the 450NE reamer, and the bore slugged out at .4605. So I bought a new barrel (it's bore measured out at .4576) and fitted that up instead. As this rifle was going to be shot a lot (BGRC) rather than be a main hunting rifle, I used the same profile as the original barrel. Kept a little more weight that way. Still balances right though. With an island base for the rear sight, it really carries nicely in the hand. My hand just wraps around the barrel and fore-end just in front of the receiver. Really comfortable there as there is no quarter rib to get in the way. I made a matching island fore-sight base for it too. Looks nice. Changed the safety slide to one of mine too. I know I know, it's not all blued, but it's my own rifle and I have not gotten to blue it yet. Customers work always comes first and mine are patient, they will wait their turn Best ALEX |
