I was also tempted by that rifle, but I don't like the 1A configuration personally as I like a 24" barrel. I just passed on a 9.3x74R for $1000 because of the silly 22" barrels Ruger fitted.

If it was mine ... I'd rebarrel to 400/350NE and refit the original rib and front sight after making the barrel 24" and keeping the original contour. It would probably come out at about the same weight. I'd see out my days with such a rifle.

I've also got an itch to do a No1 in 375RUM with 26" barrel ... I'd rather a 378Wby but am hesitant based on the case's base dimensions and narrow thread diameter on the Ruger rifles.
