For me it is the artistic nature, aesthetics, the quality of machining, materials, wood and finishing that light my fire in a rifle, not the romance of the man that used it or the company that made it. I have seen some stunning rifles made by "unknowns" and have seen some pieces made by the "Old" names that shouldnt have left the premises. I guess I look at each rifle on its merits and am not particularly swayed by the name adorning its tube or receiver. I dont really have any other choice, for to try and achieve excellence one has to develop a very critical eye. And that doesnt allow tooo much in the way of romance.....
