I think it's pretty well known that Ruger quality has dropped since Bill Ruger's death, but was in decline anyhow. I remember reading that the No. 1 was a slim margin rifle and was a matter of pride for the firm.

I bought a 45-70 a few years back, what a POS; I sold it. Last year I picked up a 1978 H-1 tropical .458 WM and the fit, finish and workmanship is outstanding.
