I picked up some 420 cast bullets for the 45-70, I loaded them up with 42 grains of IMR 4198. I got a 7/8ths group at 100 yds. The weight of the Browning sure tames the recoil. I put a 1.5-4x scope on it and it seems to be holding together for now anyways!! I wanted to see how the big cast bullets look after firing them into some big rounds of fir, I never did recover as they sailed through.
It's time to round up a few 500 grain cast bullets and see how they do.
