I just recently picked up a Gibbs in 303 Brit.
It started life as a best quality back position match rifle and was subsequently rebarreled by Gibbs as a 303 sporter. I believe Gibbs replaced the forend at the time as well - there is a bit of difference in the wood, but it is absolutely in the Gibbs style.
It is far from original, but many of the match rifles were later converted to sporter use - and as an actual Gibbs conversion, it doesn't bother me so much...
