Re: For the Farquharson lover who has everything

This special rifle is worth keeping for posterity.

Quote:

This Auguste Francotte Farquharson single shot rifle is chambered for the venerable 7X57mm cartridge and beautifully stocked and engraved. The engraving was done by Master Engravers Neil Hermsen (pornographic scenes) and Ronald Powell (scroll work). Included is a letter from Mr. Hermsen dated March 17, 1987 confirming that he and Mr. Powell did the engraving to this rifle. Now; the interesting part: It has come to us that this rifle was engraved for Larry Flint of Hustler Magazine fame and that the man in the scenes is him. We have not been able to confirm this but the fellow in the scenes bears a striking resemblance to a young Mr. Flint. As for the rifle: It is fully stocked with elegant lines in what appears to be French walnut with an ebony forearm tip that has a slight Schnabel flair. The double bordered checkering is flawless and seems to be about 20 lines per inch. The barrel is engraved with “Auguste Francotte Liege” on top and mounts a ramped front sight, three leaf express sight (with platinum center lines) and a tasteful single band of gold inlay at the breech. 99% of blue is present with one tiny scratch about 7” from the muzzle. The frame retains 98% blue with very slight thinning rearmost edge of the cartridge channel and some thinning from safety movement (when the safety is on a platinum “S” is exposed). There are two slight grain checks on the left side of the forearm where it meets the frame that are more pronounced in the photos than “in person” (we didn’t notice them until we saw the photos). These appear to be from age rather than stress. An unusual contrast of the elegant and inelegant.

The naughty bits have been covered up by the original site.
