Re: Ruger No1 577NE

Hi Steve/Con,
That is a lovely rifle you have there. I have made a few big bores on the #1 action and always enjoy them. Did the builder alter the linkage at all to make the block drop a little farther to get the .577 case in, or did he cut down the top of the block?
I have a .577 NE. 3" single partly built now on a Riedl single shot action. My barrel is still at 28" and a heavy contour. I have not yet decided what the final contour or length will be. What is the final weight of your Ruger .577 with and without the mercury reducers?
Have you hunted with it yet?
That is a lovely rifle, I like the large solid sights and workhorse appearance. I have broken a few #1 butt stocks, usually the stocks that show a lot of figure, don't stand up to recoil very well. What does the recoil with the 750s feel comparable too?
I shoot a .577 3 1/4" Jeffery double of mine quite often with 650s, it weighs 11 lbs. 10oz. and is not bad to shoot, though not something I would want to shoot all day.
Beautiful rifle you have there, good taste. Congratulations!
Yukon.
