I had the option of nearly any kind of scope mounting system available and the price of the mounts and rings was dependent upon the system I chose. I considered several, including claw mounts, EAW type swing mounts, and the Holland & Holland mounts. I have the H&H quick detachable system on another single shot and, in my opinion, it is the strongest and best. I will carry this rifle more often without a scope than with a scope and I wanted to maintain the cleanest possible profile when the scope is removed. I went with the system you see because it leaves nothing behind when detached.

Regarding the safety, I had considered requesting it modified to the shape of the old specimen rifle. But I had a chance to handle the action and found the current safety provided a solid purchase against my thumb. I didn't want to change a good thing and to me the difference in the shape of the safeties is subtle.

The rifle is made to order. Holland & Holland was very attentive to my tastes and priorities.
