Chris, I know of two ways to purchase a rifle from Holland & Holland - either purchase a new rifle "off the rack" or have one made to your specifications. My rifle is the first new single shot made so there aren't any other new single shots ready to buy in the showroom yet. To get a rifle made to order, the process is relatively straight forward. You contact Holland & Holland and say that you are considering ordering a new single shot. They will discuss the various options, make recommendations if you desire, and work up a quote. When I ordered mine I had various choices about barrel, sights, finish, engraving, etc. You also get the stock made to your measurements. As expected, price will vary depending upon the options and refinements you choose. Regarding your question about the top tang, I was given the opportunity to order the rifle with a top strap that would go over the comb of the stock. I didn't request it because my rifle is a .300 and it isn't needed. Their larger actions may have that feature as standard but please confirm that with H&H. To the best of my knowledge, the most informed person to speak to regarding ordering the new single shot is Guy Davies at the New York Gunroom. H&H New York Gunroom ~ |
