I had a set of Tikka barrels re-chambered from 30-06 to 30 Super FM and had Talley spec bases milled on top. It was a GREAT set up...so I sold it...
At the outrageous price for a Tikka scope mount, you can get Talley type bases installed and a set of rings. They can keep the Valmet/Tikka mount-osaurous, IMO. The Talley set up is much lighter, and all you need for a second scope is another set of rings.
A good ideas there, milling the base in. Then a set of QD rings. Unlike a good quality rifle, no harm to its value except improving it!
What suggestions have you got for a new and better rear open sight for the double rifle barrels, or the combinations?
