Re: J.P Sauer 22hornet/16

This one is dated 1925 and has southgate ejectors. It is about as well finished inside as you ever see. It was orginally a 7x57r but when Dad got it someone had tried to reline it to hornet and really botched it up. Ther're was also a bad chip out of the wood right behind the receiver on the left side. Dad was crazy about the gun and sent it to England. Forgive my memory as it has been many years but I believe the company was called Baylions. It consisted of three gentlemen, I believe one was Sir Leonard Onion. Dad & I were talking awhile back and he said he believed all three gentlemen had passed away. They rebored and relined the bbl to 22 hornet and reproofed it and if you look at the last picture of the left side you can see a line where they inlayed a complete panel on the stock then refinished the entire gun. Talk about quality work, they matched the grain so well one really has to look for the patch. Once Dad got it back and saw how well it shot he made some scope mounts for it.
