First let me complement you on a beautiful rifle. I have a Farquharson, but not one in such beautiful shape. Secondly, let me make a suggestion. If you don't object to sleeving your rings down to 22mm, a Lyman Alaskan would be an ideal companion for this rifle. The Alaskan is 10.5" long, weighs only 11 ounces, and has 3-5" eye relief. I have used one for years on my .458 and on my .450 Watts with no problem at all. They are vintage scopes, in the same class as the famous Zeiss and Hensholdt Zielklein scopes, but with the added advantage of "weatherproof" windage and elevation adjustments, whereas the German scopes had only elevation and were not sealed against moisture. The optics are by Bausch & Lomb. Alaskans come up regularly on eBay, and if you can't find one, I could probably help you out. I prefer the tapered post and crosshair reticle, but they also come with crosshair, or straight post, if you prefer. |
