Mark De Hass showed me the trick with the threaded hole under the hanger bracket barrel nut. He said his dad, Frank De Hass came up with that one years ago, right after the number 1 came out. I believe him because Frank was always getting new singleshots and other guns from the manufacturers right after or even before they became available to the public. They wanted him to look over their designs and find ways to improve them. For those of you who don't know about Frank De Hass, he was a mechanical genius who wrote a series of books on the single shot rifles and their actions and told people how they worked and how they could be improved upon. His son Mark told me that he worked on rifles and was still receiving guns right up to the end of his life from gun companies wanting him to do writeups on them. He did work for 10 years with the help of his good wife, who helped him take the guns apart and then put them back together again. Frank was totally blind for the last 10 years of his life. Now that's dedication! Bob H. |
