I really couldn't say if the drilling has been restocked, since I acquired it quite recently. The stock design appears to be identical with the 201 Model I find illustrated in a reprint of a Greifelt catalog from the '30's, although the checkering pattern is somewhat different. All of my drillings with the exception of the 12 gauge/8X60R Greifelt have the side lever cocking device for the rifle barrel, which I prefer to the slide used in later Krieghoffs. It is very easy to cock and uncock the rifle barrel action noiselessly and safely, using the left hand, and in the case of the J.P Sauer drilling, it positions the safety on the action tang, where, in my opinion, it belongs. I find the Greener type safeties very hard to manipulate while wearing gloves. Releasing the safety is not so difficult, but in re-engaging it I find it easier to simply use the left hand. The same is true of the safety lever on the prewar S & K Neptun. |
