Frederik No not an expert by any means. I used to be an executive of a winery and live in a wine grape region of Australia. I also have vineyards and we produce grapes for two labels, "St Hallett" and "Penfolds". Penfolds is part of the largest wine group in Australia and makes a number of very fine reds, including the Australian flagship wine, "Grange". St Hallett is a label of a smaller producer and is based in the Barossa Valley and also makes a number of very drinkable wines. We are new to making our own wines, under the "Carrara" label and when they are available I will let you all know. They will be very limited in quantity. The name Carrara is derived from a bearby hill, Carrara Hill which had a marble quarry on it several decades ago. The hill was named after Carrara in Italy which I was lucky enough to visit last year in Tuscany, and is and was a famous region for fine marble since antiquity. As to enjoying wine, I always make a resolution each year to drink more wine. For health reasons, of course. |
