The only thing I really miss about Korea is the food. Beef bulgogi was my absolute favorite dish over there. If any of you miss that dish, here's a version that works for me. I got it from one of my NCOs/Sgts when I was in South Carolina, though he wouldn't share it until I was leaving. Until then we had an arrangement; I killed wild hogs and, for a portion of the meat, he'd make us a huge batch of bulgogi. Here goes: TSgt, call-sign Devastator's, bulgogi - 1 cup soy sauce - 1/2 cup sesame oil - 1 cup sugar (I now use about 3/4 cup or less) - 1 bunch sliced green onions - 3 cloves (I use 6) garlic sliced/minced - 1/4 cup sesame seeds (optional, but I use them) - I add chopped red cili peppers or whatever you use to make food hot Marinate 2-3 lbs thin-sliced meat (I used black bear below) for a minimum of 1 hour (overnight is better). Grill meat. Make marinade into sauce by heating and adding a small amount of corn starch to thicken. Serve meat and sauce over rice or noodles.
