Re: My cooking area

A tidy camp.

I was going to take potjie and a camp oven up for the hunt. Rejected the potjie as I had too much stuff already. Didn't use the camp oven either. The plan was to get some buffalo meat early and cook up a buffalo sri lankan curry or similar. As it was we only got the first bull well into the week and not a young enough animal to bother with meat for it. Actually never even made a camp fire which in hindsight was a pity.

Like your second photo, a campfire is nature's bush TV and adds to the atmosphere and ejoyment of a camp.

The whole idea you outline has merit to copy! I have a couple of containers to "covert" and was toying with the idea of not locating near the sheds for storage but putting, one, maybe too near the creek. The whole "away from it" mancave idea, campfire etc etc really is proving attractive now.

I have the house to myself most weekdays and weeknights, so not really needed. My whole house is a "mancave". But I think it is a great idea. My container "mancave" can have creek and "water" views. Water when the creek actually flows, and somedays can be an island in a flood.
