Every year for the past 30 years, my wife has taken me out for a nice dinner for Valentine's Day. Tonight was no exception. We went to a lovely place outside of Allentown, Pennsylvania, call The Glasbern Inn. It was, without a doubt one of the best meals I've had in years (pricey, but worth it).
Anyway, with our dry aged filet of beef, we had a most delightful wine. It was a '99 Merlot, from Columbia Winery, Columbia Valley, Washington. It drank like an $80 or $90 retail price bottle, but the wine steward said it sells in the stores for only $20. Tremendous value, if you ask me. Come Monday, when the stores open, I'm going to be looking for a case.
