Quote: That is just about what I have been drinking (a lot) this summer. My oldest brother got me drinking the very Martini which James Bond orders in Casino Royale. Usually it is called a Vesper Martini and is 3 measures Gin, one measure Vodka and 1/2 measure Kina Lillet shaken over ice and garnished with a wide shaving of lemon peel. I am a Gin fan, but reversing the measures of Gin and Vodka (3 vodka, 1 gin, and 1/2 Lillet Blanc) garnished with the same lemon peel is a beautiful drink. I am using Skyy and Tanqueray since these are the only ones I buy and I don't like sapphire or infused gins. Also, Kina Lillett has not been available since the '30s, eventhough it is used in the '50s writing of Casino Royale but you can buy Lillett Blanc or Rose' in most better liquor stores. It is my submission to be the "Nitro Express" since it is a potent mixture but at the same time has a very refined, gentlemanly quality to it. Elegant yet powerful. |
