Ann, Possibly different between here with a Mediterranean climate and your climate. Gryph's link will be useful. Eating grape varieties and wine grape varieties are often different. Usually four years before the vine produces a full size crop. Some grapes will grow in the earlier years. Maybe seven plus years to get a 'mature' crop. If wine making, red wine is easier than whites. White wine making needs a lot more cooling and temperature control. As for quantities, a tonne of grapes will make between 450 and 720 litres of wine. A good sized bucket holds about 9 kg to 10 kg of grapes as a guide, so a big full bucket of grape bunches will make about a half litre of wine. Depending a lot of variety and a lot of other factors, you might get several buckets of grapes per vine. |
