Electronic ear muffs, that shut down when a rifle shot happens, but amplify normal speech, are wonderful when they work. I've had a couple pair, both Caldwell's, but each has let me down, ceasing to function after a few month's use. They do, however make good ear muffs for normal shooting, when the electronics stop working.
I will readily admit, I've not spent over $100.00 on either set, though.
