I will put my 2 cents in a declare the best I have found are the Courteney Boot Co. "Selous" for everything from leisure to cool weather semi-rough terrain. I wear them everyday unless work calls for very dirty conditions. I have walked 18 miles in them. Very nice. For wetter, cooler, tougher/rougher going I use the Meindl 7" PerFekt Hiker. I do not like a insulated boot as I am very active hunter so my feet will sweat then freeze. When forced to use a tough boot and super cold conditions (and the option of guarding the wood stove is off) I use the Meindl Alaska Hunter with 200gm thinsulate. The Whites, 9.3 is describing, are popular here but the "Logger" style heel kills my back when carring a heavy pack. I do have a pair of White's PacBoots. |
