The rifle was regulated for a 1390 grain conical bullet delivering 1550 feet per second muzzle velocity. I can put this into better prospective for you...the rifle will yield a muzzle energy of midway between modern day .577 and .600 Nitro Express rifles, quite impressive for a rifle celebrating her 164th Birthday this year.
