Thanks guys for the appreciative comments and advice I have been working this week (what happened to relaxed retirement?) so apologise for not responding sooner Robert, Matabele, Jens - It is an "Obsolete Calibre" antique which in the UK can be held (at the moment!) without any restrictions except that I do not hold ammunition for it For shooting it would have to be on my Firearms Certificate as it is rifled, and there may be problems if I wanted to use it for hunting (your type not ours, one hunts with hounds here), due to its size (police do not understand that a 10 bore ball will be safer due to its lack of range I 'work' for a registered Firearms Dealer and am authorised by the police to act as his 'servant' If the gun was put on his books temporarily it could be shot on a range for 'testing'. This may happen in the near future Rocdoc - I gave it to the restorer for his advice/opinion without thinking about the top lever, he says it would have been originally blacked, so did that (my WR Cape Rifle posted here is similarly coloured), my only other top lever. I may in the future put it "in the White" Daryl, you have the first refusal for any and all of my heavy guns/rifles for TEMPORARY export and shooting your mooses etc. Jens of course is welcome!! Jens - do you still have your 10 bore rifle? The thought of poaching the Queen's deer is very appealing, provide one is NOT CAUGHT! I believe ASH has a heavy 10 bore Paradox (sorry Ash cannot find your PMs) much more powerful Good shooting to all Tony |
