As with most shotguns NEFs have generous headspace. So I check the firing protrusion on all NEF guns I have as well as all other guns of any kind. Some NEFs only protrude about .040" and all shotguns need .060" at least. So on NEF I file off back of breech stop so that hammer pushes the transfer bar further forward shoving pin out further. Also guns that have a light primer dent with some cases I have, will indent better with Hornady cases as I measured them with about .005" extra rim thickness. But you don't want to put up with short firing pin protrusion when it can be fixed.Ed |
