I called in to Holland & Holland's after the Holt's auction in the hope of visiting their museum/collection. Fortunately I met the gentleman who inspected my 8 bore ball gun and he was most helpful Totally overawed by what I saw and handled ![]() One of a pair of tusks (and cannon) at the entrance ![]() This just blew me away From the top .577 BPE Hammer rifle .577 Nitro sidelock rifle 8 bore Paradox 8 bore rifle 4 bore rifle, fully engraved for a Maharajah 8 and 10 bore Paradoxes Even Curl would be a little green with these! ![]() The 8 bore rifle, just beautiful ![]() My biggest disappointment was the poor pics of this, the 4 bore rifle. 20/22 inch barrels, 22 lbs weight, just handling it was impressive, fully engraved, arguably the best rifle anywhere, although possibly not very practicable ![]() Gold engraved rifle, not sure if 8 or 10 bore ![]() One of the only pair of 10 bore rifles made by H&H ![]() Gold inlaid but more modern .240 ![]() This falling block, possibly a Field's patent, in .450/400 with original scope This was only a fraction of the rifles and shotguns on display, including one used to shoot down (or at least at) Zeppelins in WW1! A pair if 18 inch barrelled coach guns in 16 bore I could have stayed there all day! ![]() A mere .600 Nitro express for sale in the main shop. I did not have the neck to ask the price! I hope you can get a fraction of the pleasure I had viewing Holland & Holland were most helpful and their attitude was completely different to other places I went They have requested not to use the pics for commercial gain TH44 |
