If using smokeless powder, then about any lube will work & the alox/chain lube sounds easier.

If using black powder, I suggest 60%Beeswax/40%Vaseline. You can easily used the cookie cutter method, melted lube around the bullets, when hardened, use a case (primer socket drilled out) to shove down overtop the bullets to remove them form the lube tray fully lubed. The hole in the top of the case is used to push the bullets out, ie: plunger-style with a rod, nail, or etc.

Other store-bought lubes also work, Lyman BP Gold and SPG work well with smokeless or Black Powder loads.
