Further note, guys, Ed Huble's thread, 12 Guage (or bore) From Hell, includes notes on how the guys increased the diameter and weight of the Lee mould's slug. That slug is not really a rifled slug, ie: doesn't have vanes such as the factory Fosters or Benneke's, but is a straight sided, round nosed slug. When increasing the size of the bullet that mould casts, they ended up with a sharp edge around the perifery of the top, like on a handgun SWC bullet giving the same sort of 'cutting' edge. Good on paper, terrific on hides. Of course, for competition shooting, one must use the most accurate projectile, bar none and searching out the best mould for that, can be quite an expensive endeavour, not to mention extensive testing time - What FUN!!!! |
