The cheekpiece is cut for an inserted - something. It is too angular and deliberate to fit a 'defect' of a person's actual anatomy. Of coruse, it could be due to a person's defect. It is certainly 'odd' and in a BAD place. Such a nice piece of wood- very difficult to repair 'well' and wouldn't be comfortable shooting as-is. Might even break cheek bones.
Since both of the guns have the same cuttout, one on the right for right handed, the other on the left, they must be for a rubber mounted, soft pad - which is missing, obviously.
