Having read many threads here on home-made bullets and casting, I was wondering, has anybody here used copper pipe caps as projectiles? I was thinking along these lines, and bought a couple - 1/2" and 3/4". The OD's are .706" and .968" respectively. The 1/2" cap slides right through the muzzle on my Thomas Jackson 12ga. with no extra room and stops about 3mm short in the choke of my Tolley 12ga. I think these can be reformed up or down as well as punching over a mandrel or die to round out the nose. I filled the 1/2" cap with lead to weigh, but my scale maxes out at 515gr. I torched it too prior to filling thus the discoloration, but I bet the molten lead would anneal it anyway. It does fit nicely in a 10ga. shot cup though! Has anyone tried this? ![]() ![]() ![]() |
