With all respect to Mr. Seyfried, I have shot many thousands of .060" LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene) over powder wads through my pet BP target rifle without any degradation of the bore. If bore damage is a concern this material would be a suitable and safe option.
Now that I think of it, there sure enough have been a few plastic shotgun wads put through barrels in the last 40 years. I believe these are LDPE as well.
