I wanted to show everyone what just came in the mail. I picked up this rifle at a very low price and I'm really pleased with it. It has no markings what so ever, no proof marks, nothing. The bore is in decent shape with a groove diameter of about .855, with 12 grooves. I dropped a light down and while there is a lot going on with those 12 grooves, the twist is slow at about 1:100 or so. Looks like a round ball gun to me. I have a 12 bore underhammer that I hunt with and I thought it was a big bore but this baby is BIG! It has silver looking accents on the barrel at both ends and makes me think of India. It seems solid in every way with a modern looking musket cap nipple. Looks like someone has done some work on the stock with some inlays but overall very solid. Any observations you have regarding age, country of origin etc would be appreciated. Hopefully I can post pictures. |
