The Rodda went for $33,000.00 The Powell at $40,000.00 and the Holland paradox at $27,500.00 The Holland butt stock had been smashed and glued back together and really needed to be restocked. I sure wouldn't have shot it with the pieced together stock! Look closely at the pictures and you can see a lot of glued cracks.

Thanks, it sure would be nice to own a vintage 4 bore some day and take it to Africa. Anyone know of any of the Belgian rolling block 4 bores being sold, and for how much they went?

Were those hammer prices or did they include the buyers premium?
The last falling block vintage 4 I am aware of sold for about 25k 11 or more years ago.

Those were hammer prices add 15% for premium. Julia's auction has prices online now. They include buyers premium.

One day i'll own a single barrel vintage 4 bore like that one

I love how worn that 4-bore is. It was obviously well used and has character. The stories it could tell stagger my imagination if only it could speak!
Now then, does anyone know if any NE members were among the fortunate new owners? Does anyone know any more history on these beyond what is listed?

Plus one for the 4 bore, Bob, with octagonal barrel it is certainly unusual, and probably easier to handle than a double
I have tried to copy the pics for my own interest but without success - any ideas?

Did you notice on the Paradox - the rifling was oriented identically for each barrel? Love it!

The 4-bore single was owned and sold by a gent in South Africa. I know him and the rifle has been in his family for over 100 years. He sold it as he had no use for it and the price was a fraction of the total 46K it auctioned for. He has sent me copies of the documentation from the factory. The original owner had 4 identical rifles made up for a lengthy safari. The history of this is super. )-Bob--if you remind me I can print them off the bring them to the shoot on the 31st. Cal
