From this morning's jaunt up the mountain. Took a stand just below the crest of a steep, snowy, selectively-logged north slope and called this thing in. Later I found out my nephew first saw it jog by from his position to my right. It was below him on a trail about 200 yards away and moving. He got the critter in his scope but let it go as it was moving and passing thru brush. I was about 100 yards to the left of him on the other side of a ridgeline. The thing slithered along below me to about 160 yards and then hesitated on the trail long enough for me to shoot it with my chopped Ruger 6.5x55 carbine + 140 grain Prvi Partizan bullet handload. Good performance of the bullet as it left only about a 1-inch exit hole which on a shoulder shot yote is all I want. Fur buyer says he'll take him. Hurrah, won't even pay the gasoline to town... ![]() ![]() And another picture along the trail. ![]() |
