Can't do any better than an '06 for most of N. America. It is marginal for big bruins, but has dispatched a bunch of'em. With a good 200-220 gr bullet, anything over here is in big trouble.

You can push a 150-165 gr and get terrific open country performance...moderate recoil, and good ammo available everywhere on the continent.
