I started my hunting career in New Mexico, but a little farther east. I started bow hunting the Cloudcroft, High Rolls area back when an out of state DBT (dear, bear, and turkey) archery license was $15.00. Whoo boy. Many years ago. Spent a lot of years running ridges in the Gila Wilderness and then lived up in the mountains above Las Vegas New Mexico for a few years. I left NM a few years after they started dividing up the hunts into units, times, all that socialist crap.
