there's a lot of good replies here.....some I would have never thought of but for sure the Colt SAA, the Winchester levers and M-70, the Browning auto shotgun and the Savage 99 should not be dismissed from the list.

Further historic developements that are not mentioned is the Smith & Wesson revolvers and the Marlin 45-70 lever gun specifically designed for Cape Bufflo.
