In Oz, you guys can shoot donkeys if you want. But in 1973, the U.S. Congress passed legislation to outlaw the shooting of wild horses and burros. Last year two fellows went to federal prison for shooting half a dozen of them in Nevada. Meanwhile the wild horses and burros overgraze their habitat and occasionally spread disease to cattle herds. If we had kangaroos here in the U.S., I am sure they would be protected as well. |
