But in 1973, the U.S. Congress passed legislation to outlaw the shooting of wild horses and burros. Last year two fellows went to federal prison for shooting half a dozen of them in Nevada.

Meanwhile the wild horses and burros overgraze their habitat and occasionally spread disease to cattle herds.

If we had kangaroos here in the U.S., I am sure they would be protected as well.
