Hi Ann, He's a good buck, but not in the "great buck" class. We're gonna take a month off and chase 'em around staring this week, so maybe I'll post a few more pics later. Backpacking a deer is a nice option when the circumstances warrant it. Could be dangerous to walk out like this, in some parts of the world I guess. Just make a slit just above and behind the back knee on each side, between bone & tendon. Then insert the front legs. I like to push the front feet through far enough that I can wring the front "elbow" with a knife, so the front lower leg flops. That way, it won't pull back through the slit very easily. Prop the deer up against a rock or tree, wiggle into the straps (legs), and you're off. Sometimes it can be comical, trying to get to your feet... |
