That brute is actually a mule deer. I got him last November at about two in the afternoon while he was running with his harem. By the time we got back to camp, loaded up the horses, and then made it back to the deer, it was dusk. When I scored him last year he grossed 204 and netted 184, with 6 points on one side and 5 on the other (not including the brow tines). The taxidermist phoned me today so hopefully I'll have another picture to post on the weekend. Next month the rut will be on, so I'll be out looking for another. I have a whitetail tag in my pocket as well, just in case.
