Interesting. When my buddy's father bought a army-surplus model 1917 Mauser in .30/06 back in the 50's, his neighbours all remarked, "What'd you buy that cannon for, Pete, there was nothing wrong with your Stevens for moose and deer?"
They were referring to his .25.
