I shot one stalking black bear with a glass marble from a pretty powerful wrist rocket sling shot. You could tell it stung him but he was agitated and it took another hit, backed by my aggressive actions - I had a 375 H&H in the other hand - before he grudgingly left.
A few days later, in the same campground at Llaird hot springs, a camper was killed by a black bear.
