I thought of the eyeball when I posted the response to Louis' post.
Eyeball shot kinda difficult when the bear is charging, I'd expect - or stationary for that matter - depending on height of sights (scope?) above the bore could mean miss, high or especially low, then you have a really pissed off bear. I'd think best to do about anything possible to avoid such a conflict.
