Even a .22Mag with 50gr slugs failed on a couple of Chital/Axis stags but one in the chest behind the leg dropped them with in 20feet !

Agreed, I have also used the .22 rimfire for many creatures in my lifetime...all the way from gophers, skunks, badgers, fox and coyotes.. along with a whitetail, however that was only once..

While growing up on the farm we used one all the time when we butchered big steers or pigs on the farm,

It's a great little weapon to have along, however would NOT be my first choice or probably first 100 choices as a weapon to use on a griz..
